SCB Young Marrieds May 2010 Camping Trip

For the last couple of years our Sunday school class has done two camping trips a year. One in the fall and one in the spring. Last fall was a week after Hailey was born so Daniel and Malachi went and I stayed with my Granny. This time we were ready for the adventure. We have a great tent and even got a new double air mattress for Christmas.

Ok, so two weeks before the camping trips we start looking for travel trailers. Don't get me wrong we love tent camping but man it would be nice to have a trailer with the kiddos sometimes. We love the idea of having a trailer and being able to go camping more often as a family. Hotels are crazy expensive but camp grounds are really reasonable and are pretty nice these days. We told ourselves finally after looking for two weeks that we needed to wait and find a really good deal instead of rushing into something. My boss has two campers and I ended up saying something to her about her campers. She offered to let us borrow the pop-up. So we picked it up and figured out how to work everything, cleaned it up and were ready to go.

Daniel took off Friday so he was able to get everything packed and ready for when I got home after lunch we just had to head out. We went and picked up the kiddos from school and were on our way to Mineral Wells State Park.

The weather was beautiful all weekend. Friday we got there and got everything set up and DB was able to help other people with their tents as they started arriving. We had a good group come out. Apparently it was a big camping weekend so we were unable to get 7 spots all together. That was sort of a bummer for the weekend. But Mineral Wells State Park is beautiful. The slots are tree covered so you can sit outside during the day and not have the sun beating down on you.

We were lucky enough to have some great friends share our camp site. They have changed Churches now but still hang out with the group. Their son and Malachi had a blast with the camper Friday and Saturday. They loved to stand at the door of the camper. For what ever reason. They went in and out all day long.Malachi even learned how to peddle his tricycle with a little help to get started.

Saturday DB went in his first canoe. He had fun. Then they went fishing during nap time. This is what we did during nap time. Not so much napping went on in our camper.

Saturday evening we do a community dinner. Frito pie, homemade chili and hot dogs. It is a great time. The guys decided to do some more fishing and the ladies staying and played with the kiddos. Needless to say little man and myself were ready for bed before to long. I think both nights Malachi fell asleep on the couch before we could get his pjs on and bed ready.

Sunday we went to see my Granny and wish her a Happy Mother's Day. It was a nice visit. We loaded up the camp site and then we all went fishing. Malachi was a little distracted but it was fun times by all. We left camp around 2:00 and we ate lunch at DQ - I picked b/c we do not have one in FT.Worth close by.

We had a great time and are looking forward to our next one in September or October. I know this turned long but here are a few pictures from the weekend.
